The Kerem Tunnel is a great spot to hike and ride.
The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycling route that surrounds the capital city.


The tunnel is a link between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entrance is beneath Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance is found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Michael, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and a slew of cyclists attended a ceremony to mark the opening of the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Jerusalem was a desirable tourist destination because of its rich and fascinating history. Elkin stated that the current tourist industry is a part of Jerusalem's historic treasures and also incorporates modern tourism. "The inauguration (of this tunnel project) is a further step in the growth of Jerusalem, and the transformation of Jerusalem into a popular city to visit for all kinds of visitors throughout Israel as well as across the globe."

Elkin who, along with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, stated that his ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels each year to develop the tourism industry in Jerusalem and in the creation of innovative tourist attractions and ventures that link the rich history of our eternal capital to its future... I would like to invite cyclists to enjoy a safe and modern-day route that takes you through Old Jerusalem.
