The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique ride and hiking experience that should be enjoyed by all.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of Jerusalem Ring Path.  נווה פריצקי This 42-kilometer cycle path surrounds Jerusalem.

The tunnel is located through the Nahal-Refaim-Emek-Motza route. The southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban and its northern entrance is located in Nahal Ein Kerem, about one kilometer away close to the Kerem junction.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Michael, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman and hundreds of cyclists attended a ceremony to mark the opening of the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction due to its rich history. I invite all cyclists to come and take a ride along the contemporary, well-maintained road that takes in the view of Old Jerusalem.

About NIS 25 million was put into in the project, financed by Elkin's ministry The Tourism Ministry, the Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation and the Jerusalem Purification and Sewerage Works, as well as the work done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin stated that "The Kerem Tunnel Project is the central instrument to achieve the dream to change the way we think about transportation throughout Jerusalem." Elkin explained that the proposed tunnel connects to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will connect with existing bike trails. The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the 90s to move the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is now being used as an infrastructure tunnel which includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.

Current works include road construction, installation blowers and sophisticated security systems to ensure the tunnel is secure for everyone to use throughout the year.
